The new construction is placed as a floating volume on the natural topography. This lightness is achieved by means of a recessed base. The main floor, which serves as the residential floor, is placed on top of this. The base slab and the rim of the roof are strongly formulated as horizontal elements and frame the generous glass surfaces of the residential floor. The shape of the roof (flat/pitched roof with a slight incline) is a key element in creating a dialog with the diverse neighboring buildings. The roof pitch intentionally runs parallel to the slope: the horizontal terrain is taken up with a flat roof and the sloping terrain is responded to with a monopitch roof. The movement of the topography therefore determines the shape of the volume. In this way, the floating structure forms the conclusion at this topographically prominent location and exaggerates the slope.
