The photographer Envar Zkahraman from Van founded the project “Women’s Rug Workshops” in 2000. The workshop focused not only on the weaving of traditional kilims, but also on women’s literacy and the health of women and children. In 2010, the Hisar Anatolian Support Association (HADD) joined the initiative. Within the scope of this program, the city of Van intends to develop a new “Center for Women, Craft, and Culture” on a municipal site. In collaboration with local partners in Van and volunteer partners from Switzerland, Dolmus Architekten developed a study for this project.
